Message from Chris Vail
Schumer Shutdown.....
So our elected officials in their infinite wisdom decided they couldn't agree on anything and now the federal government is closed...well partly. Disagreements happen all the time, it's how we handle it that makes a difference. Principle is something worth standing up for and that's what the Republicans are doing. Enough with adding back a Trillion dollars to our deficit, enough with the lies. I can only hope the GOP will stick to their plan. William Feely spells it out. You can find his full article as an attachment to the email or check out his National Committeeman Facebook page or his substack.
Here in Nebraska, not only is football season in full force, but also harvest for so many of us. I can't emphasize it enough - pay attention, slow down, and be safe! This is the time of year farmers are trying to get that crop in and pay some bills. This year is not going to be so great for many. Although, many things are going right for the Trump administration - immigration, tax reductions, economy improving - we must remember not all parts of the economy are so good. That is why we need to keep in contact with our representatives. Trade disputes, property taxes, input costs (see Kevin Stocker's message) are all on the minds of our farmers - the party cannot lose sight of that. So things aren't so rosy everywhere, but they are going in the right direction. Keep all of Nebraska's workers in mind when you are spreading the talking points about the economy and pray for a safe and bountiful harvest.
Candidates for next year's election are making the rounds across the state. It's a great time to get to know them and find out what's fact or fiction. Also, for those of you in GOP leadership roles, please see the explanation of the protocol for showing support. We encourage dialogue with all of our Republican candidates, that's for sure.
As a note to those candidates, I hope you will use this newsletter as a reference to connect with our county leaders and the many great voters of the state. Here in the newsletter, we won't promote one candidate over another in a primary or contested race (same party). We do publish activities that our county & state GOP and conservative groups hold, check them out.
Working together requires listening, encouraging others, and working for success. It reminds me of a quote by Warren Bennis "Good leaders make people feel that they're at the very heart of things, not at the periphery." That is accomplished by communicating and sharing ideas, not by dictating or shutting others out. Practice what we preach, then we will have success!
We, also, need to remember to take time for ourselves, our families, our Lord, and our communities outside of politics. Pray for those hurting. Somehow we need everyone to understand that life is precious, our time here is finite, as we were reminded of on a daily basis, we need to cherish that and spend it wisely. Slow down, be safe...
Nebraska 3rd District is planning big things for our country's 250th!
